Beach Week

Updated: Aug 28, 2019

For a lot of families, the 4th of July holiday means BEACH WEEK!  As for us, we're fortunate to be just a couple of hours from the coast, so we spend a lot of time on the boat and in the sand. Needless to say, these essentials have withstood a pretty rigorous trial and error.

Whether your feet are pool side, sandy, or walking the dock, getcha a pair of these sandals. I've been wanting to get in on the Birkenstock resurgence for a while; these are practical with zero break-in time. I grew up in the boat business, so I know how important traction is around the water. These have great grip and the adjustable strap keeps them on your feet. Bonus, they are rubber, so they float.. and since there is no heel strap, you can slide these on without the awkward bending over in a bathing suit. Win win!

I own at least 4 tubes of this lip-balm. Seriously. I keep two in my car, one on the boat, and at least one with my regular make up. It's hydrating and has great color, but is still sheer. You can put it on without a mirror! But, most importantly, it's SPF 20... I'm trying to go for lip injections when I hit 60, not cancerous mole removal! Lip spf is often overlooked and I consider this a necessary multi-tasker.

Speaking of SPF, I'm adding this SPF sun shirt for men, again. My husband wears his all the time and it's cooler than a typical cotton t-shirt. Tons of colors, runs true to size, and a lot less expensive than the dermatologist.

I've pretty much become obsessed with these beach towels. I feel like they should be part of a Bounty commercial; super absorbent, but aren't bulky AT ALL. I wear mine like a sarong and it takes up very little room in the beach bag; not to mention it dries quickly. Love all the colors; currently have the orange and blue stripes.

Rumor is it's going to be a cool 96 degrees for the Holiday weekend. What is not a rumor is that I will be 'knee-deep in the water some where'. Since pool noodles only strong enough to hold up my left thigh, I've found a better solution to bobbing in the water. These foam saddle seats are made for adults and lay flat, making them easier to pack and less likely to blow out of the boat. And since they are foam, you don't have to spend 20 mins blowing anything up before your vacation can commence. So make a margarita and find some water.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July week!

xoxo

Callie
